APS Bank has inaugurated the ‘Time to care’ photography exhibition at which the winners of the competition, the judges and senior Bank officials were invited. The theme ‘Time to care’ was chosen to raise awareness about the impact which progress can have on the environment. More than 100 photographs were submitted, depicting different interpretations of the theme.

Hervé Delpech, Head of Strategy & Marketing, in the presence of fellow judges Jeffrey Cassar and Frederick Micallef, inaugurated the event. Ten photographers whose works featured in the Bank’s 2019 desk calendar – one for each month – were rewarded. First prize went to Salvatore Mercieca for his photo ‘Plastic Sea’, showing the contrast created by plastic used in agriculture to grow off season produce. Aron Tanti claimed second prize for his photo titled ‘Beauty and the Beast’, showing a Grey Heron in flight with tower cranes in the background. Third prize went to Jonathan Borg for his photo titled ‘Yay or nay?’ showing a graffiti artist at work wearing a mask-protection from the toxic spray, questioning if this art-form is to be celebrated or is a pollutant.

The photos are currently on display at the APS Centre, Swatar. Entrance to the exhibition, which is open till 4 March 2019, is free.
