Next APS talk: Let’s talk about obesity!

The 33rd talk of the APS talks series, ‘Let’s talk about obesity!’, will be presented by Mr Predrag Andrejevic on Thursday 2 May 2024 at 18:30.

Register to join this talk where Mr Andrejevic will unravel the complexity of obesity – a multifaceted phenomenon that touches lives worldwide, regardless of country or culture. The session will help connect the dots, shedding light on how obesity affects us all and emphasising the crucial role each of us plays in combating it. He will challenge outdated notions and pave the way for real, meaningful change in both our health and wider societal systems.

Mr Andrejevic will explore preventive measures, treatment options, and the who, when, how, and where of addressing this pressing issue, predicted to impact 1.9 billion people by 2035, one target we want to miss!

Mr Andrejevic is a surgeon with over ten years of experience, specialising in laparoscopic colorectal and emergency surgery. He has been instrumental in introducing minimally invasive techniques, particularly in colorectal resections, emergency laparoscopic colon and gall bladder resections, and abdominal wall hernia surgery. Actively involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students, Mr Andrejevic holds the position of postgraduate training coordinator, while also founding the intranational postgraduate surgical programme in Malta. He serves on the Educational and Training Committee of the European Association of Endoscopic Surgeons and holds an honorary clinical senior lecturer position at Queens Mary University of London.
