As part of APS Bank plc’s strategic initiative to promote diversity, equity and inclusion, speakers from the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) presented the #APSlife Celebrating Diversity Breakfast Series. Five informative sessions were held over breakfast with colleagues representing various departments to understand and discuss how an inclusive and accessible environment for all can be sustained. A range of topics were presented, including visual impairments by Christine Mifsud and her guide dog Dora; autism spectrum and neurodiversity by Blaine Schembri; deaf and hard of hearing by Joanne Spiteri and Sharon Mifsud a sign language interpreter; intellectual impairments by Isabel Bonello and Christine Mifsud, and mobility impairments by Rhoda Garland.

Building on the success of these sessions, the Bank will be hosting an APS Business talk, titled ‘Exploring Neurodiversity and Employment’ on 20 July at 18:30. The session, led by Blaine Schembri, will provide insights into neurodiversity, and highlight the positive contributions that individuals with neurodiverse traits bring to the workplace. Attendees can expect practical information on fostering inclusivity, with specific recommendations for creating an accommodating environment for a neurodiverse workforce. The talk aims to empower employers and colleagues to cultivate an inclusive workplace culture that values and understands individuals with diverse neurological profiles.
