The 6th talk of the APS Business talks series, 'Exploring Neurodiversity and Employment' will be presented by Blaine Schembri at 18:30 on 20 July 2023.

The talk will explore what neurodiversity is and will shed light on the positive contributions that individuals with neurodiverse traits can bring to the workplace. Moreover, the session will provide practical information on fostering inclusivity in the workplace. It will offer specific recommendations and adjustments that can be implemented to create a more accommodating environment for a neurodiverse workforce.

The talk aims  to empower employers and colleagues to create an inclusive workplace culture where individuals with diverse neurological profiles feel valued, understood, and comfortable.

Blaine Schembri

Mr. Blaine Schembri, diagnosed with autism since childhood, worked in the disability sector for over 11 years, contributing to disability awareness meetings, public speaking for people within the autism spectrum, and media interviews.

He recently joined CRPD last year with the Disability Equality Training group to continue promoting awareness.

CRPD applies the UNCRPD Definition of persons with disability:

  • Persons with disabilities include those who have long-term physical, mental, intellectual, or sensory impairments which, in interaction with various barriers, may hinder their full and effective participation in society on an equal basis with others.

CRPD's roles are:

  • Protect the rights of persons with disability living in Malta.
  • Raise awareness about the rights of persons with disability.
  • Raise awareness about the issues that affect persons with disability.
  • Keep a registry of persons with disability.
