APS Bank’s CSR programme continues to reach out

The first six months of 2017 have seen APS Bank actively supporting a range of CSR projects across various strata of society.

A fund-raising concert sponsored by the Bank featuring Handel’s The Messiah was held on Easter Sunday at St Paul’s Anglican Pro-Cathedral in Valletta. Proceeds from the event went towards medical research conducted by the University of Malta’s Research, Innovation and Development Trust (RIDT).

The Bank also contributed to the local literature scene by sponsoring Birzebbuga… Storja u Kultura. The book, by local researchers Matthew Balzan and Conrad d’Amato, brings new insight into the Southern seaside town, something which, in the words of APS Bank Chairman, E. P. Delia, will hopefully “stir up interest and curiosity among the younger generations, especially Birzebbuga residents who might know what the town looks like yet are unaware of the forces that shaped it into what it is today.”

A dress-down day by APS Bank employees also raised a nice sum for local NGO Dar il-Kaptan, which offers professional respite services and support to persons with disabilities and their families. The Bank was also the main sponsor of two performances by the Cappella Musicale Pontificia Sistina Choir, commonly referred to ask the Pope’s personal choir, which performed at the Victoria International Arts Festival in Gozo and then to a packed St John’s Co-Cathedral in Valletta, successively.

Finally, on the artistic front, the Bank is collaborating with the Gabriel Caruana Foundation on the Kreaturi project, an initiative that will provide a space to young children residing in Birkirkara and Balzan to unleash their creative potential through a number of workshops and resultant exhibitions. This activity is expected to be launched later on this year.
