APS Bank has donated 35 laptops to Rise International, a nonprofit organisation supporting rural communities in Africa through education, architecture and economic empowerment. The laptops are supporting its programmes in Kenya and Lesotho, with a particular focus on opportunities for women and children. Through the Work Ready and Business Incubation programmes, young people and entrepreneurs now have access to technology to develop practical skills and pursue new opportunities.
The donation is also enabling Rise International to introduce IT classes at the Community Library in Jacaranda, where some students are using a laptop for the first time. The equipment is already supporting a Creative Thinking Teacher Training Workshop involving seven schools and three community libraries across Kenya.
Jeremy Vassallo, CSR Manager at APS Bank, commented, “It has been a pleasure receiving photos of children using the laptops and seeing their excitement as they learn and develop new skills. It is a reminder that access to technology, something many of us use every day, can create meaningful opportunities for others. We are very pleased that these laptops are already being put to such good use.”
