APS Bank held the first event of its #APSlife Pride Inclusion Network, providing colleagues with an opportunity to discuss identity, belonging and the experiences of the LGBTQIA+ community. APS Bank Director Marisa Xuereb shared her personal reflections on living authentically, staying true to one’s values and approaching challenges with resilience. She also spoke about dealing with assumptions and biases, focusing on personal growth and meaningful goals, and the role of perseverance and hard work in personal and professional development.
The discussion continued with #APSlife Pride Inclusion Network leaders Kieran Schembri Wilson and Kurt Farrugia, who shared personal experiences and discussed the challenges faced by the LGBTQIA+ community and why Pride remains relevant today.
The network leaders said: “The #APSlife Pride Inclusion Network gives colleagues a space to speak openly, share experiences and learn from one another, including through conversations that are not always easy to have. As part of the wider Corporate Culture Change Management Programme, the Network supports greater understanding and a culture where everyone feels represented, respected and empowered to be themselves.”
The event reflected the purpose of the #APSlife Inclusion Networks: to foster understanding, celebrate different experiences and perspectives, and create opportunities for colleagues to connect, learn and contribute to a culture where everyone feels they belong.
