The latest session of the Malta Sustainability Forum (MSF), launched on Monday 23 March 2026, focuses on “Poverty in Malta: Beyond the numbers.” The discussion explores what poverty looks like in Malta today, drawing on recent data to examine its multidimensional nature, from income insecurity and the rise of the working poor to housing affordability, material deprivation, social isolation and mental wellbeing.
Beyond the statistics, the session highlights the human realities behind poverty and encourages reflection on how society can work towards ensuring a decent standard of living for all. The discussion also considers how more inclusive and sustainable progress can be achieved through collective awareness and action.
Rachael Blackburn, Head of Culture at APS Bank, said: “Poverty is often discussed through statistics, but behind every number there is a lived experience. Through the Malta Sustainability Forum, we hope to encourage meaningful dialogue on the social challenges affecting our communities and how we can work together towards a more inclusive and sustainable future.”
Malta Sustainability Forum is supported by APS Bank. The full episode is available to watch on YouTube or listen to on Spotify.
