APS Bank recently held the 36th session in its APS Talks series, titled ‘Protecting Nature: Birds, Habitats and Beyond’. The talk featured Nicholas Galea, Head of the BirdLife Malta Ringing Scheme, who shared insights into his lifelong commitment to bird conservation.

Mr Galea spoke about how a childhood interest in birdwatching led to his long-standing involvement with BirdLife Malta. He explained how his background in IT supports the organisation’s conservation efforts, blending technology with science to help protect Malta’s birdlife.

The session highlighted the value of scientific data, public education, and volunteer support in sustaining conservation initiatives. Mr Galea also discussed how modern lifestyles affect migratory birds, underlining the need for greater public awareness and action to protect natural ecosystems.

Jeremy Vassallo, CSR Manager at APS Bank, commented: “This talk reflected our aim of making complex issues more accessible. Nicholas’s story shows how individual commitment, backed by science and community support, can help preserve our environment.”

APS Talks form part of the Bank’s wider commitment with the community through its Corporate Social Responsibility programme.

The session is available on APS Bank’s YouTube and Spotify channels.
