About this event
The 36th APS talk in the APS talks series, ‘Protecting nature: Birds, habitats and beyond’, is presented by Nicholas Galea, Head of BirdLife Malta Ringing Scheme, the oldest environmental organisation in Malta, committed to the protection of wild birds and their habitats.
In this session, Nicholas shares how a childhood introduction to BirdLife Malta inspired a deep commitment to bird conservation. He explains how his background in IT now supports the organisation’s work. His insights reveal how a small team of employees, supported by volunteers, drives BirdLife Malta’s mission through dedication and resourcefulness.
The talk explores the importance of scientific data, education and also discusses the impact of modern living on migratory birds, stressing the need for public awareness and action to protect natural ecosystems.
