Strategies of Innovation

APS Bank is organising a series of talks titled ‘APS talks’. The first talk of this series is titled ‘Strategies of Innovation’, which will be presented by Professor Peter McKiernan on 18th October 2018 at The Hub - PwC, 78 Mill Street, Qormi.

Professor McKiernan will explore strategies of innovation from a corporate perspective. Using his research into two famous studies of successful organisations - Sharpbenders and Hidden Champions - he will outline the types of innovation strategies deployed by them to deepen their penetration of key markets and to seize opportunities in new ones. He will cover the types of innovation and their components, the cultures that create them, the structures that support them and the continuous attention paid by proactive managers to ensure dynamic progress. Constant innovation requires a flexible and expansive mind-set and many organisations focus on one-off breakthrough and fail to develop the mind-sets that will make innovation strategy dynamic. The talk will offer participants the chance to explore their innovative capacity and to take way a set of tools to help their own strategy.
