Sustainable Regeneration of Built Heritage

Sustainable Regeneration of Built Heritage

Sustainable Regeneration of Built Heritage is the eighth talk of the APS talks series, which will be presented by Architect Amber Wismayer on 5th September 2019 at The Hub - PwC, 78 Mill Street, Qormi.

Sustainability has become a common term in our everyday vocabulary. The regeneration and re-use of our architectural heritage is also widely debated. This talk will explain how the two topics  - sustainability and built heritage - harmoniously complement one another. The talk will discuss how older buildings were designed to be sustainable. Examples will be used to demonstrate how this potential may be exploited in order to maximise the energy efficiency of traditional townhouses, farmhouses and palazzos. The application of these principles to modern buildings will also be addressed.
